President’s Message

Members of the Korean Society of Mathematical Education

<The Mathematical Education>, <Theoretical Mathematics and Pedagogical Mathematics>, <Education of Primary School Mathematics>, <Research in Mathematical Education (English)>, and <Communications of Mathematical Education> published by our Society have been growing into excellent academic journals through KCI Indexs. In addition to the efforts made so far by the former chairmen to become SCOPUS-listed academic journals, we will make sure to see the results over the next two years. We ask for the cooperation of not only the board members of the Society but also all members, including advisors, for this achievement. To this end, the Society will focus on the following agendas.

First, the core of the Society is the conference and the publication of academic journals. First of all, we will hold academic conferences in which all participants interested in mathematics education in Korea take part in. We will make the conferences run by our Society a grand festival of mathematics education by setting up a keynote lecture on scholars who have gained international fame, by presenting their papers by professor-level researchers, by establishing sessions that present papers published in academic journals above the SCOPUS level, and by operating a round table that has upgraded the existing round table. Meanwhile, the Society will make strong efforts that <The Mathematical Education> and <Research in Mathematical Education> will be registered in SCOPUS List. The chairman's group and the editorial boards will make ceaseless efforts for this registration. We ask for your support and cooperation in this effort.

Second, we will expand the Society's finances. Our Society's finances are relatively sound. Donations from former presidents and board members have been a great help to this. In addition, various projects conducted by the Society are solidifying the Society's finances. Additionally, we are planning to open a donation section on the website of our Society. We will make sure that donations are made at all times through the website and that the Society's finances are abundant. Based on this finance, we will effectively carry out the projects that the Society has carried out so far and will carry out anew. We will find some ways for our members to benefit from the abundant finances again.

Third, we will find and promote future-oriented projects. As can be seen from the 60-year history of the Society, our society has always promoted new projects. For example, there may be policy research ordered by the Society. Through these projects, researchers and field teachers of new and old mathematics education will work together to become the Korean Society of Mathematical Education, which conducts mathematics education in a larger framework than individuals by demonstrating collective intelligence.

The 17th executive branch will communicate with the members and run the Society. Please give us a lot of interest and give us your encouragement and advice. When we do this together, our Society will not be one in Korea, but one that shines in the world. All these honors consist of the participation of our members. You are the Korean Society of Mathematical Education itself.

I wish you many blessings with the Korean Society of Mathematical Education.
